Answer: If you want your child to have an official diagnosis you will have to be referred via your GP or school to CAMHS who will conduct an assessment. There is also the option to be privately diagnosed and costs are dependent on each practice.  We are unable to recommend practitioners There are also support groups and services which can assist you on the journey and GEMS can assist in the signposting.

Answer: It can be a very overwhelming time for the whole family. GEMS can signpost to relevant services and provide support via home visits, workshops, courses and learning animations. These are provided in partnership with The Autism Group and Parenting Special Children.

Answer: GEMS has a bank of animated learnings that can be accessed in your own time and watched at a convenient time that works for you.

Answer: GEMS provides support to understand and support behaviour.  Areas such as   anxiety, sensory difficulties, sleep difficulties and communication can often be a cause of behaviour. GEMS offer workshops and animated learning which aim to empower parents to support their child’s behaviour. 

Answer: Yes. GEMS services are available to families whose children are on the CAMHS waiting list for an autism and/or ADHD diagnosis and those whose children have received an autism and/or ADHD diagnosis.

Answer:  Unfortunately, not. GEMS is an autism and ADHD support service for families living in Bracknell, Windsor, Maidenhead and Slough.
